The residential building is located along the scenic road leading to the castle of Sasso Corbaro. The plot follows the orography of the terraced hollow facing the Magadino Plain. To the north-west it adjoins a wooded area and the Casa Rotalinti (built by the architect Aurelio Galfetti), a cultural monument of cantonal importance.
There was already a 1960s’ house on the property which the project fully integrates into the new building. The roof has been raised to include two flats of 2.5 and 3.5 rooms. The lateral extension contains three 4.5-roomed apartments.
Access to the complex is through the roof, where the parking spaces, shaded by the vegetation on the pergola, are located. All the flats are connected by the new area of vertical movement which also gives easy access to the pre-existing house.
The new intervention is characterised by sliding brise-soleil in bronze-coloured aluminium with vertical slats. The inclination of the slats has been carefully studied in order to guarantee the privacy of the apartments, considering the amphitheatre shape of the complex.
